Chili Cook Off

Our Chili Cook Off was a huge success! We had 12 entries and all were delicious. Dennis Agajanian and his friends were our judges and they had a very hard job coming up with just one favorite! After much deliberation and tasting again and again, they chose "Chili by Dee", entered by Dianna Lowe.  She was gracious enough to share with us her recipe!


Here is my recipe:


Brown 2 pounds lean ground beef. Drain

add 8 oz. tomato sauce

15 oz beef broth 

simmer 30 minutes



3 TBS chili powder

1/2 TBS cumin

1 tsp garlic powder 

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp cayenne

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 chicken bouillon cube

simmer 1 hour



2 TBS chili powder

1/2 tsp cumin

1 tsp paprika 

simmer 30 minutes


The beans:

1 pound dried pinto beans

7.5 cups water

1 tsp crushed red pepper 

2 tsp salt (I used 1 1/2 tsp)

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp chili powder 


sort and rinse beans. add all ingredients to

crock pot and stir. Slow cook on low 8 hours.

drain and mix meat and beans together.
